A brilliant run ashore…..
I remember when on a visit to Falmouth, one Leading Seaman Hampson said to us non duty watch, “let’s go for a rig run ashore”, with some dubious characters I may add.
So in our finest no. 1 uniform and looking very smart off we went following our leader, on the way we had to run the gauntlet of old ladies wanting to touch our collar for luck. Can’t remember the reason we went into Woolies now, but somehow we all got chucked out, it seems to have escaped me why. After a few pubs we ended up in a gay bar, but thankfully none of us trapped that day, it was a really good laugh and a brilliant run ashore. Thanks Barry!
